Sinyushka’s Well

Received this card from Irina via Postcrossing earlier this week. The image is an illustration from the Russian fairy tale, “Sinyushka’s Well”, which is also known as “The Blue Crone’s Spring” or “The Blue Baba of the Marsh”. 

I love this card because folk tales and mythology are among my special interests, but also because Irina who sent this is from Nizhny Novgorod, which was where my late sister studied for many years. This is a special card for that reason alone ❤
